Getting to Know: Thomas J Price

For our new video series, Thomas J Price walks students from Brete Harte Preparatory and Luther Burbank, through his current exhibition ‘Beyond Measure’ at Hauser & Wirth Downtown Los Angeles. The artist's first solo exhibition in the US draws visitor’s attention to the nuances of conditioned behaviors and psychological frameworks, interrogating how we collectively occupy space. It is a celebration of the strength of everyday individuals focusing on the universal human qualities that unite us and provide an opportunity to arrive at a shared moment of connection.

Inspired by Price’s work and practice, the Education Lab titled ‘Traces of Us,’ empowers young people to use art and their own first-hand experiences in a collaborative creative project. The Education Lab features an installation of art pieces by the students, each exploring the ways in which statues and monuments can be used to represent themselves and commemorate something important in their lives.

‘Getting to Know’ is a new video series exploring the work and careers of the foremost artists of our time through the lens of creative students and community members.
