Painters on Painting: Zeng Fanzhi

  • 18 April 2023

On the occasion of the exhibition ‘Zeng Fanzhi’, Hauser & Wirth Downtown Los Angeles hosted a conversation between contemporary painters, art history professors, and their students moderated by a curator from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

The Learning team welcomed curator Susanna Ferrell, professors Jenny Lin and Hui Shu Lin and students from University of California Los Angeles, University of Southern California, and Occidental College to an informal discussion on painting and contemporary Chinese art, in response to some of the themes and issues raised by the work of renowned Chinese artist Zeng Fanzhi.

‘Painters on Painting’ are exploratory learning events where artists and students engage in a conversation around painting exhibitions at Hauser & Wirth as part of the gallery’s international learning initiative. The events aim to bring young voices into the conversation on contemporary painting and artistic processes.
