On the occasion of ‘Lorna Simpson. 1985 – 92,’ the artist joins Thelma Golden, Chief Curator and Director of The Studio Museum, and Zora Simpson Casebere in conversation at our New York, 69th Street gallery. Please enjoy the opportunity to hear from a personal perspective about the works on view in a conversation largely centered around work that Zora Simpson Casebere, Lorna Simpson’s daughter, has grown up knowing, but in many cases never seen in person.
Occupying all three floors of the gallery’s 69th Street location, Simpson's exhibition traces the impact and enduring influence of the artist's early photography-based output from the 1980s and 90s, in the most comprehensive presentation of this period of the artist’s career since her first major survey at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago in 1992.
‘Lorna Simpson. 1985 – 92’ is on view at Hauser & Wirth New York, 69th Street until 22 October 2022.
