Clay and Conversation

  • Sat 26 March 2022
  • 11 am – 4 pm

Join us for this one-day event, featuring live throwing on the wheel led by ceramicists Lisa Hammond MBE, Florian Gadsby, Francis Lloyd-Jones, and Darren Ellis. As a celebration of their distinct approaches, visitors will witness the making process and engage in conversations about aspects central to their work.

Taking place in The Maltings, Hauser & Wirth’s artist residency studios, attendees will be introduced to Hammond and her former apprentices, with a chance to discover more about their apprenticeships.

For Lisa Hammond MBE, her personal commitment to sharing the expertise and skills of studio pottery with the next generation has driven her practice for decades. Providing an insight into a breadth of ceramic skills, together the makers will demonstrate their individual approaches and material knowledge.

This event coincides with Make Hauser & Wirth Somerset’s current exhibition ‘Lisa Hammond: Future Perfect’, extending the dialogue presented between mentor and apprentice. Visit the exhibition until 2 April 2022.

Tickets are £5 per person and must be booked in advance. Under 12’s can attend for free.
