‘The Weight of Water’ is an exciting performance that merges dance and circus on water, exploring a pursuit of power while also revealing our dependence.
On the quay is an audience. On the water an imposing, sleekly designed white staircase, swaying. On this are six performers who enter into a dialogue with the tilting object. Two musicians accompany the dance from a separate floating platform using a combination of vocals, trumpet, guitar, an analogue synthesiser and text samples of politicians’ empty promises regarding the climate crises.
The performance is a collaboration with Pedra Viva, a landmark performing arts festival in Menorca. For the last 15 years, Pedra Viva has organized dance performances, classical music concerts, theatre pieces and a range of unique outdoor environments.
