Since Hauser & Wirth Somerset’s launch in 2014, the gallery has worked in partnership with 14 charitable organizations, institutions and local businesses across the South West of England. Each year, a new local charity is supported through visitor entrance donations and community events, providing a platform to promote ongoing initiatives and increase awareness to a broader audience.

The Education Lab ‘Mentorship Moments’ explores the transformative power of mentors who impact, nurture and inspire. Henry Taylor has credited artist and educator James Jarvaise with being a pivotal figure in his development as an artist, offering unwavering encouragement, constructive support and critical guidance. In honor of this mentorship, the lab invites reflection on the many mentors in one's life.  

In collaboration with Arts for Healing and Justice Network, California State University Los Angeles Department of Art, Inner-City Arts, Luther Burbank Middle School and Ramón C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts, the Learning team invited over 100 participants, ranging from ages five to adulthood, to create a painting commemorating the meaningful impact of a mentor on their creative journey. In keeping with Taylor’s early practice, the artwork was made using repurposed materials—echoing his philosophy that creativity is not confined to traditional canvases.  

On the occasion of ‘Luchita Hurtado. Yo Soy,’ and as part of the gallery’s ongoing learning initiatives, the Hurtado estate collaborated with young creatives from Las Fotos Project. 

'The most beautiful Swiss books'—an annual competition of the Federal Office of Culture that rewards the quality of book design in Switzerland—has included ‘Constructive Clarity. Max Bill and His Time, 1940–1952’ written by Angela Thomas and published by Hauser & Wirth Publishers’ in this year’s selection.

We are happy to announce that the gallery now exclusively represents the estate of celebrated American artist Susan Rothenberg (1945 – 2020).

On the occasion of ‘Resilience of Scale,’ on view at our Wooster Street location in New York, and as part of the gallery’s ongoing learning initiatives, Thomas J Price welcomed students and emerging artists for an ‘Art Work’ exhibition walkthrough in dialogue with curator Yelena Keller. 

This summer, we are pleased to present two multifaceted works by Dieter Roth (1930 – 1998) within the Roth Bar in Somerset.

On the occasion of artist Charles Gaines’ exhibition ‘Numbers and Trees, The Tanzania Baobabs,’ Hauser & Wirth’s Learning team facilitated a new writing workshop inviting emerging writers and artists to respond to the exhibition. This three-hour exploratory writing workshop was designed for current MFA Art students and alumni from local universities interested in art writing. Led by Ingrid Schaffer, Hauser & Wirth Curatorial Senior Director, and the Learning team, the workshop introduced participants to Gaines' work and his philosophy that art is a tool for knowledge production and self-understanding.  

We are honored to announce representation of acclaimed Korean artist Lee Bul, in collaboration with Seoul-based gallery BB&M.

The Gershon Iskowitz Foundation in partnership with the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) has awarded Allison Katz the 2023 Gershon Iskowitz Prize at the AGO. The award, which includes a $75,000 cash award as well as a solo presentation at the AGO is presented annually to an artist who has made an outstanding contribution to the visual arts in Canada.

In 2017, Hauser & Wirth partnered with public university Cal State LA to develop a joint community engagement initiative, giving rise to the innovative documentary filmmaking course, Community Impact Media. A training program for student filmmakers, the course pairs students with local nonprofit organizations to produce high-quality, short documentaries. Students are provided with hands-on experience in media production and storytelling mentorship to bolster both their craft and the inspiring work of the nonprofits they feature. In turn, these organizations are left with a visual tool to educate and build constituencies, support funding efforts and encourage participation.  

William Kentridge has been elected as a Foreign Associate Member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts by Erik Desmazières, member of Engraving and Drawing section. Kentridge was previously elected in 2021 as a Foreign associate member in Seat XIII previously occupied by the greek jeweller and artist Ilias Lalaounis (1920 – 2013).

Frank Bowling’s exhibition ‘Collage’ is complemented by an academic program, the first of its kind for our Parisian gallery, driven by the shared passion for education and learning by Frank Bowling and Hauser & Wirth. This included a Study Day on Monday 28 April 2025 at the gallery, as well as workshops for school pupils from wider Paris regions.

Hauser & Wirth and Spike Island are delighted to announce Florence Fitzgerald-Allsopp as the recipient of the first Engagement Fellowship for South West-Based Curators 2025 – 2026.

‘The Struggle Against Terrorism’ (1934–35), a monumental landmark mural by Philip Guston and Reuben Kadish will be unveiled to the public on Friday, 31 January 2025 in a celebration honoring the masterwork’s resplendent restoration. Located in an 18th Century Baroque palace in Morelia, Mexico that today houses the Regional Museum of Michoacán, this significant artwork has been brought back to life, and conserved for generations to come, through an intensive collaboration between The Guston Foundation, Mexico’s Ministry of Culture and the National Center for the Conservation of Artistic and Architectural Heritage.
