We are pleased to share the news that the gallery will create a flagship space in the heart of Mayfair, complementing our existing Savile Row location. This new home for art and artists will occupy the lower floors of the Goode Building, an important historic Grade II* listed icon of Victorian architecture designed by Ernest George and Peto architects between 1875 and 1876. Over the course of its 30-year history, Hauser & Wirth has transformed numerous architectural landmarks into outstanding destinations to experience art in Zurich, Somerset, Los Angeles, New York, and, most recently, Menorca.
We are delighted to announce the next phase of our support of the South London Gallery (SLG) to deliver their schools’ program for young learners. In a new year-long initiative, Hauser & Wirth will be working with the institution, based in Peckham south London, on their expanded learning program of contemporary arts and creative thinking. Providing opportunities for learning and participation is at the heart of the SLG’s purpose, and thousands of children, young people and adults take part in an extensive program of activities.
Centered around a core belief in education, Hauser & Wirth offers a series of artist, specialist and curator-led talks, seminars and workshops tailored for primary schools, colleges and universities. Since our founding, we have also used art and gallery spaces as focus points for education programs and outreach. These have developed into sustained, multi-year local partnerships.
The Spring/Summer 2019 collection by Swiss fashion house Akris is a unique collaboration between Akris creative director Albert Kriemler, Romanian artist Geta Brătescu and Marian Ivan of Ivan Gallery. Albert Kriemler discovered the artist’s work at documenta in Athens and Kassel, and was inspired by her bold use of color, line, and relationship to paper. Kriemler remarked how ‘Geta’s feeling for selecting paper is very similar to how I select fabric. Fabric teaches me so much, and, like paper, it’s a beautiful material – it has a haptic quality.’
A virtual reality tour of ‘Zeng Fanzhi. In the Studio’ spanning three Hauser & Wirth locations in Zurich, London and Hong Kong.
