Conceived as a site-specific response to Mika Rottenberg and Cindy Sherman’s exhibitions, and inspired by the concept of ‘plasticity of identity,’ ‘Play Your Part’ is a performative and participatory installation that invites the audience into an immersive, symbolic journey guided by audio narration. Visitors become active participants, engaging both intellectually and physically with the theme of identity through a carefully choreographed experience.

We are pleased to unveil the Rottenbar, a permanent installation created by Argentina-born, New York-based artist Mika Rottenberg on the second floor of Hauser & Wirth New York, 22nd Street. Made from carved bittersweet vines and reclaimed plastic that Rottenberg molds, extrudes and presses into sculptural forms, the Rottenbar—from conception to production—suggests the artist’s studio can be an incubator for a regenerative circle of creation and consumption.

This summer, Hauser & Wirth Somerset celebrates the opening of our Education Lab, a global partnership between our learning and green teams, open from Saturday 3 June 2023 until Monday 1 January 2024.

‘Mika Rottenberg’ at Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles, is the first major presentation of Rottenberg’s work on the West Coast and the most comprehensive carbon footprint calculation of the artist's work to date. This research helps to form the basis of carbon and waste reduction activities in our Downtown Los Angeles gallery and in future projects with the artist.

This September marks the global release of ‘REMOTE,’ the debut feature-length film from Mika Rottenberg and Mahyad Tousi.

Focusing on four outstanding artists, our Art Basel OVR:2020 presentation features a total of 24 works, each live to view for 24 hours only. The paintings and drawings by Rita Ackermann, Phyllida Barlow, Jenny Holzer, and Mika Rottenberg give a unique insight into the work that each artist has created over recent months and the themes which emerge from this period of intense creative focus.
