Sound Bath in ‘Zhang Enli’

Please join us for a meditative sound bath within Zhang Enli’s exhibition at Hauser & Wirth West Hollywood led by Roxie Sound Healing. Drawing on both Eastern and Western traditions, Zhang’s practice moves toward a more open visual language, revealing abstraction’s capacity to communicate through gesture, atmosphere, and emotion.

Through vibration and resonance, this sound bath will offer a contemplative encounter with the exhibition, extending the subtle rhythms and intangible qualities within Zhang’s paintings into a sensory experience. The session will invite participants to slow their attention and engage with the relationship between material, memory, and perception.

We ask that guests bring their own yoga mat, blanket, and pillow for their comfort during the experience. Eye masks are optional. A limited number of seat cushions will be available for those unable to bring a mat.

Capacity for this event is limited, and registration is required to attend. Click here to register.

About the exhibition
Zhang Enli has used painting to document the more prosaic aspects of contemporary life—everyday objects, interiors and individuals—since his arrival on the Shanghai art scene in the 1990s. The exhibition presents a new body of abstract portraits and marks the artist’s first solo presentation on the West Coast. While anchored in figuration and paired with descriptive titles, the works convey the essence of their subjects via evocation. Drawing on both Eastern and Western traditions, Zhang pushes toward a looser visual language in order to reveal abstraction’s power to communicate the human condition.
