Join us for a guided tour of Oudolf Field with Head Gardener Mark Dumbelton as part of our event series, ‘How Gardens Shape Us,’ at Hauser & Wirth Somerset.

Oudolf Field, our 1.5-acre perennial meadow situated behind the gallery, was created by acclaimed landscape designer Piet Oudolf. A leading figure in the New Perennial movement, his projects are characterized by a strong pictorial relationship to a garden’s composition and layout. Inspired by art, nature and time, Oudolf’s gardens are achieved through areas of naturalistic planting, using swathes of perennials and grasses combined with structured pathways, shrubs and trees.

Head Gardener Mark Dumbelton will lead a guided tour of Oudolf Field, offering a unique insight into Oudolf’s creative process, talking through the planting and how the garden is maintained, which contains over 30,000 perennials.

Tickets are free, but we welcome donations to our 2026 – 2027 charity partner. Advance booking is essential. This event is open to all, but children must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note that the garden will remain open to visitors during the tour. The gallery will open at 12 pm. Farm Shop will be serving coffees, pastries and sandwiches from 9 am. Da Costa will be taking lunch reservations from 12 pm.

After the tour, join us from 11 am – 1 pm for a series of talks about horticulture in the Radić Pavilion, chaired by Dumbelton.

Please be advised that photographs will be taken at this event for use on the Hauser & Wirth website, social media and in other marketing materials.
