Community Lab: ‘Stitch It, Don’t Ditch It’ Workshop

  • Sat 29 April 2023

Do you have items of clothing in need of repair? Would you like to learn how to mend them for a longer life with patches, scraps and simple stitches?

Hauser & Wirth Somerset is delighted to host the Bruton-based community group, One Planet Bruton, for a drop-in ‘Stitch It, Don’t Ditch It’ mending session on Saturday 29 April, as part of our ‘Community Lab: Threads of Connection’.

Following a ‘Stitch It, Don’t Ditch It’ hour of action in 2021, One Planet Bruton has held monthly mending sessions to enable people to repair and reuse existing clothing.

This event is free and open to all, but we recommend booking a place in advance.

About ‘Community Lab: Threads of Connection’ Coinciding with ‘The New Bend’, we are excited to share ‘Community Lab: Threads of Connection’, an interactive space that fosters social connections through artmaking. Conceived in our Los Angeles gallery, it has now traveled to Somerset. Alongside a range of practical workshops, the Community Lab provides opportunities to learn about the Gee’s Bend quilters through an extensive timeline of the Alabama region and documentary provided by Souls Grown Deep.

About One Planet Bruton One Planet Bruton is a community interest company working towards a sustainable future by using Bioregional’s One Planet Living vision and framework. If everyone in the world lived as we do in the UK, we would need three planets to support us. We only have one. One Planet Living is a vision of a world where everyone everywhere can lead happy and healthy lives with a fair share of the earth’s resources, leaving space for wildlife and nature.

Please be advised that photographs will be taken at this event for use on the Hauser & Wirth website, social media and in other marketing materials.
