The Eye and ‘The Eye’: An Evening of Poetry With Fabian Peake

  • Thu 8 December 2022
  • 6.30 – 8 pm

Hauser & Wirth Somerset is delighted to host an intimate evening of poetry readings by Fabian Peake.

To coincide with the current exhibition, ‘Fabian Peake. an eye either side’, Peake will perform readings from his 60-year career – as both artist and poet. The relationship between the artist’s visual and written work will be a key theme of the evening, informing Peake’s selection of readings from both his own poems and those of other poets who have inspired him, including Wallace Stevens, E.E. Cummings, Dante, Elizabeth Bishop, Dada poets and others.

This event will take place in the Threshing Barn gallery, where visitors will be surrounded by Peake's early paintings from the 1970s. There will be an opportunity to explore the galleries from 6.30 pm.

Tickets for this event are £5 per person and include a welcome drink. All the proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to our 2022 – 2023 charity partners: Art Bank in Shepton Mallet, BruBowl in Bruton and The Growing Space in Wincanton. We recommend booking your tickets in advance.

Please be advised that photographs will be taken at this event for use on the Hauser & Wirth website, social media and in other marketing materials.
