Opening Reception: ‘Hospital Rooms. Like there is hope and I can dream of another world’
Join us to celebrate the opening of our new exhibition ‘Hospital Rooms. Like there is hope and I can dream of another world’ at Hauser & Wirth London.
The new exhibition will share the extraordinary work of arts and mental health charity Hospital Rooms. The show will feature ambitious new artworks by artists Mark Titchner, Harold Offeh, and Michelle Williams Gamaker that have been created in collaboration with people with lived experience of mental health services and installed inside mental health hospitals across the UK. The exhibition will culminate in a fundraising auction on 14 September 2022, featuring Amy Sherald, Pipilotti Rist, Takesada Matsutani, Thomas J Price, and more.
‘Hospital Rooms. Like there is hope and I can dream of another world’ is open at Hauser & Wirth London through 14 September 2022.
About Hospital Rooms
The charity Hospital Rooms was founded when a friend of artist Tim A Shaw and curator Niamh White was sectioned under the Mental Health Act and the NHS inpatient unit she was required to stay in was cold, clinical, and devoid of any sense of imagination or creativity. They aimed to change this. Hospital Rooms envisions a new world where abundant and meaningful creative opportunities are readily accessible to people with severe and enduring mental health diagnoses, and where mental health hospital environments are inventive cultural spaces offering solace, comfort, and dignity.
