Beyond the site of the gallery, Durslade is a working farm. This June, we will be joining over 1,000 farms across the UK in Open Farm Sunday, an annual initiative celebrating the diversity of British farming and the many ways in which the countryside can be farmed, foraged and maintained.
For this year’s Open Farm Sunday, Hauser & Wirth Somerset will be collaborating with the Somerset Wildlife Trust (SWT) and Roth Bar & Grill for a day of family activities.
Explore the woodland surrounding Durslade Farm with nature trails led by the SWT and join us in the Implement Shed for drop-in family workshops. Inspired by Henry Moore and the landscape surrounding Durslade Farm, we will be creating our own maquettes for outdoor sculptures.
The activities are aimed at families with children aged 6 – 14 years. Younger children are welcome if supervised by parents or carers.
This event is free, but places on the nature walks are limited and timed slots need to be booked in advance. Workshops in the Implement Shed run 11 am – 3pm, with no booking necessary.
Open Farm Sunday takes place 11 am – 4 pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample and learn more about the produce from the farm, as well as discover how and where ingredients are gathered and harvested for Durslade Farm Shop and Roth Bar & Grill. Local producers and suppliers will also be joining us, alongside food from the Roth Bar & Grill fires and a Somerset Pimm’s bar.
