In Conversation: Jochen Holz and Derek Wilson

Jacqueline Moore, Director of Make Hauser & Wirth Somerset will lead a conversation with Jochen Holz, glass artist and Derek Wilson, ceramicist, the two contemporary makers featured in current exhibition, ‘dis/rupt’ at Make Hauser & Wirth Somerset. Holz and Wilson will discuss the exhibition, their personal practice and material knowledge which actively informs and influences the work they create. Throughout the afternoon, guests will have the opportunity to handle, examine and interrogate objects and participate in an open Q&A. Tickets are £6 and include afternoon tea. Booking is essential. Please note this event takes place at Make Hauser & Wirth Somerset, 13 High Street, Bruton. Car parks can be found at Higher Backway, Station Road and the Jubilee Park playground. _ About dis/rupt ‘dis/rupt’ presents new and existing work by two contemporary makers, Jochen Holz and Derek Wilson.⁣ Unique to both makers is a reinterpretation of their materials, exploring notions of functionality, the familiar, and the abstract, each challenging the properties and parameters of their chosen medium.⁣ Glass artist, Jochen Holz, produces vibrant, organically shaped glassware with a spontaneous energy. Ceramicist, Derek Wilson focuses on using the potter’s wheel as a tool for making an eclectic range of functional and sculptural objects.⁣ ‘dis/rupt’ is on view at Make Hauser & Wirth Somerset 11 January – 21 March 2020.
