Hauser & Wirth’s 3rd Annual Summer Film Series continues with Tim Burton's 'Big Fish' (2004), selected by Amy Sherald. This picture follows the incredible life of Edward Bloom, through a series of flashbacks that begin when his son Will visits him for the last time. Edward is dying of cancer, and Will hasn't spoken to him for years because he believes him to be a liar that never really cared for his family. As Edward's story unfolds once again, Will tries to finally understand the truth about who his father really was... Screening begins at 8 PM, and the rooftop opens at 7 PM. Artist’s Choice Summer Film Series is a program of free evening film screenings that will take place on the rooftop of the gallery’s West 22nd Street location in June and July. With films selected by gallery artists Rita Ackermann, Jenny Holzer, Roni Horn, Amy Sherald, and Lorna Simpson. Summer Film Series will present a vibrant collection of cinematic works that illustrate the many ways in which the moving image provides a rich source of inspiration for visual artists. An assortment of drinks and light snacks will be available on the roof from the Roth Bar during each of the screenings. Guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets. While screenings are free, advanced booking is essential due to limited seating. Big Fish (2004), by Tim Burton (2 hours 5 minutes)
