Europe after the Rain (1978) Directed by Mick Gold Duration: 1h 28mins In celebration of the exhibition ‘The Sylvio Perlstein Collection. A Luta Continua,’ from June to July, Hauser & Wirth presents a series of film screenings, introducing the significant artists in the collection and in art history. ‘Europe after the Rain’ (from the painting by the same name, Max Ernst [1941]) is a documentary by journalist-filmmaker Mick Gold that examines Dada and Surrealism not simply as modern movements in the arts, but also as a history of ideas - emphasising the desire to unify political and psychological values with artistic creativity. ‘Dada thrives on contradictions. It is creative and destructive. Dada denounces the world and wishes to save it’. Free Admission. Limited seats available.
