Thursday 2 June: David Shull Opening with DJ Ramon Silva Along with Oneida, Guardian Alien, Anita Fix, The Working Poor (PGH), Dean Cercone, Invisible Circle, Haribo and Raul De Nieves, Beech Creeps, TV on the Radio, Eartheater, Wild Yakks, The Clear Plastic Masks, Robot Death, Pill, Black Dice, Coco Rosie, The K Holes, M Lamar, and many more, David Shull, in his many incantations, has played an active role in the Brooklyn music and art scene. The past five years have been particularly productive, writing and performing with the Avant Garde Post-punk band Rocket from a Drone, the smaller, Poison Dartz from a Micro-Drone, and most recently heading up his own band, Seashellz, whose dreamy pop ballads combine more typical tropes of love and loss with potent political undertones. https://theseashellz.bandcamp.com https://poisondartz.bandcamp.com https://soundcloud.com/master-sway https://david-shull.tumblr.com Ramon Silva’s music and art incorporate multimedia sources ranging from traditional drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography to digital video and audio platforms. With no formal training in music theory, Ramon applies instinctual methods of composition used to make paintings, collages, and other 3-D works to the creation of sound and video based installations. His interests lie in the relationship of music to concepts of movement – organic, nostalgic, and ethereal. Silva has completed sound installations for the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York NY; Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn NY; Spring/Break Art Show, New York NY; NADA Miami Beach, Miami Beach FL; MoMA PS1, Long Island City NY, and he has participated in ‘Reading List: Artists’ Selections from the MoMA Library Collection,’ at The Museum of Modern Art, New York NY. soundcloud.com/mezcaliwave/tracks This event is free, but reservation is required.
