agnès b. has developed a rare and original art collection, which includes significant artist moving image, film and video. In collaboration with Elena Hill, agnès b. will show a selection of film and video works from her collection, and will speak about her passion and commitment to collecting these works and her career as a film producer and director. agnès b. opened her first shop in the Rue du Jour in Paris in 1975. Since then, the designer has been offering fashions that match and reflect the spirit of the age, a wardrobe that adapts to every personality and can be worn for a very long time. Since the company started, it has opened more than a hundred shops throughout the world. In 1997, agnès b. set up her own audiovisual production company, Love Streams agnès b. Productions. Love Streams has co-produced and supported directors of films such as, ‘Seul Contre Tous’ by Gaspar Noé (1998), ‘Trouble Every Day’ by Claire Denis (2001), ‘Son frère’ by Patrice Chéreau (co-production with Arte 2003), ‘Qui veut la peau de Mister V’ by Emilie Deleuze (2003), and ‘L’Innocence’ by Lucille Hadzihalilovic (2004). In 2013, agnès b. (as Agnès Troublé) directed her own film, ‘Je m’appelle Hmmm…’ which had its UK première at the Glasgow Film Festival 2014. The film stars Douglas Gordon, Sylvie Testud, Jacques Bonnaffé and Lou-Lélia Demerliac. Elena Hill has over a decade of experience working in artist film production. Elena is the Director of Soda Film + Art Ltd (SoFA), a UK based agency for artist film production and sales with associated publishing. SoFA looks for innovated ways to finance and promote artist moving image projects and feature length films through collaborative responses between the visual arts and the film industry. Elena Hill set up SoFA in 2012 with colleagues in film distribution. It was set up as a centralized bureau taking care of all aspects of the film value chain for visual artists. Elena Hill has been key in supporting and mentoring artists wishing to transfer into feature film both at the beginning of their careers as well as showcasing established artists for a wider audience. Elena Hill divides her time between London and Bath and is a Trustee of the Arnolfini in Bristol. The Collector’s Cut is a programme of screenings and in-conversation events, focusing on collecting artists’ moving image film and video. The programme will invite leading collectors who have made a significant difference to the production and exhibition of film and video works, to talk about their collections and passion for collecting.
