Open Farm Sunday

  • 11 am – 4 pm

Beyond the site of the gallery, Durslade is a working farm. This June, we will be joining over 1,000 farms across the UK in Open Farm Sunday, an annual initiative celebrating the diversity of British farming and the many ways in which the countryside can be farmed, foraged and maintained. It is a fantastic opportunity for families to discover first hand what it means to be a farmer, where our food comes from and how to nurture and live in harmony with the land. This special free event will include tractor and trailer rides across the farm, where children and their families will get to meet the animals as well as learning all about our vineyard. Visitors will be able to sample and learn about the diverse produce originating from the farm, including cider and apple juice made from over 40 varieties of apples, as well as honey and marmalade. Children will be able to take part in a series of drop-in creative workshop sessions with environmental artist Stephen Whitehead. There will also be a display of vintage tractors as well as new farm machinery for families to discover and explore, such as combine harvesters, John Deere and Fendt tractors. This is a free event and all are welcome.
