Open Farm Sunday

  • Sun 10 June 2018
  • 11 am – 4 pm

This June, we will be joining over 1,000 farms across the UK in Open Farm Sunday, an annual initiative celebrating the diversity of British farming and the many ways in which the countryside can be farmed, foraged, and maintained. It is a fantastic opportunity for families to discover first hand what it means to be a farmer, where our food comes from, and how to nurture and live in harmony with the land. This year’s particular focus will be exploring where our food comes from. Beyond the site of the gallery, Durslade is a working farm and this special free event will celebrate our locale, with tractor and trailer rides across the farm where children and their families can meet the animals and learn all about our vineyard. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample and learn more about the diverse produce originating from the farm, including Durslade Farm cider and apple juice made from over 40 varieties of apples, as well as honey. We are delighted to welcome Senior Model Maker from Aardman Animations, Jim Parkyn, who will be leading a stop motion animation workshop on the theme of where our food comes from. There will also be a display of vintage tractors as well as new farm machinery for families to discover and explore, such as combine harvesters, John Deere and Fendt tractors. Roth Bar & Grill will be serving a fire pit feast from 12 – 3 pm and the outdoor bar will be serving a selection of hot drinks, soft drinks and cocktails. Stalls by The Bakemonger and Mendip Moments will be selling cakes and ice-cream. This is a free event and all are welcome.   Menu
