About

The Hauser & Wirth Book Lab is a project devoted to exploring the important place that books and prints occupy in the practice of artists.  Hauser & Wirth Somerset is pleased to celebrate the 100th anniversary of revered children’s author Richard Scarry. ‘Making it Fun is the Best Way!’ presents never-before-seen original drawings, book-dummies, preparatory drawings and personal photographs, effects and ephemera, offering a comprehensive overview of Richard Scarry’s career. It includes play furniture designed by Scarry’s son Huck Scarry, based upon the characters from his father’s books. To coincide with the Book Lab, the education team at Hauser & Wirth Somerset has designed an active programme of events to engage children of all ages, deepening their understanding of Scarry’s work and developing a life-long love of reading.
