On the occasion of ‘Allison Katz. Outta the Bag,’ on view at Hauser & Wirth New York, Wooster Street, and as part of Hauser & Wirth’s ongoing learning initiatives, artist Allison Katz collaborated with 18 sophomore graphic design students from Chelsea Career and Technical Education (CTE) High School, a partner of The Drawing Center. In partnership with Manuela NY and the NYC-based art and urban farming non-profit, Project EATS, students created a community-based poster campaign that will be wheatpasted around the SoHo neighborhood.

This year’s Education Lab, ‘Bitacora,’ at Hauser & Wirth Menorca is developed in collaboration with the University of the Balearic Islands and the University of Barcelona. The student-led program nurtures national connectivity between the universities, exploring what learning looks like beyond an institutional setting and facilitating a launchpad for creating, sharing and collaborative research. Responding to the themes of the group exhibition ‘Directionless,’ the Education Lab echoes the very concept set by Rashid Johnson, to find new creative pathways and orientations through artistic practice.

‘Learning Exchange: Artists Matter’ Comes to Los Angeles

On Saturday, 2 May 2026, the Learning Exchange: Artists Matter traveled to Downtown Los Angeles. The gathering focused on the ways artists can contribute to building mentorship pathways, strengthening community partnerships and expanding access to the arts for young people—an ethos that has long guided the gallery’s Learning initiatives. The event followed the gallery’s inaugural Learning Exchange in New York in 2023, and in Somerset in 2024.

The Learning Exchange is part of the gallery’s active learning programs—creating a dialogue between art, artists and a diverse audience with a focus on first-hand experience. This 2026 iteration marked Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles’ 10th anniversary of learning programs and partnerships, supporting access to contemporary art and artists. This has been achieved via deep-rooted relationships in the Downtown Arts District, growing alongside its neighborhood, welcoming nearly two million visitors and engaging more than 120,000 learners through tours, workshops and partnerships.
