Open Source Salon – Bill Amberg

Join us for an evening with Bill Amberg, world-renowned designer and craftsman, and founder of Bill Amberg Studio. Bill will share his extensive knowledge on the history, chemistry and sustainability of leather used in the creation of his bespoke leather products, interiors and furniture. Established in 1984, The Bill Amberg Studio brings together artisans from the worlds of saddlery, case-making, bookbinding and other forms of fine leathercraft. Their work runs the gamut from bags and accessories, through to timeless bespoke furniture and interiors for high-end private residencies, commercial projects and cultural institutions around the globe making the Bill Amberg name a badge of quality and true craftsmanship. Bill’s iconic ‘Rocket Bag’ forms part of the permanent collection of London’s V&A and New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Bill’s work can be viewed, and enjoyed, on site at Roth Bar & Grill. All the leatherwork to the furniture and bar stools has been handcrafted and custom-made. Open Source Salon is an intimate and unique evening of discussion and dining for like-minded creatives and enthusiasts. Every salon invites special guest speakers to share their knowledge and experience on one of the key themes at the heart of Hauser & Wirth Somerset – art, architecture, landscape, making and food. Hear stimulating talks, exchange new ideas and enjoy locally sourced food and drink. Previous participants include Jinny Blom, Mary McCartney, Michael Eavis and Hauser & Wirth founders, Manuela and Iwan Wirth. Open Source Salon is a collaboration between Hauser & Wirth Somerset and Roth Bar & Grill. 6.30 pm – Talk begins 7.45 pm – Dinner and discussion Menu Slow cooked Durslade Farm beef ragu, cavolo nero, wet polenta Vanilla panna cotta, honeycomb Dietary requirements will be accommodated; please advise when booking.  Tickets are £35 and include a two-course meal from Roth Bar & Grill.
