Open Source Salon – ‘A Walk on the Wild Side’

  • Thu 16 May 2019
  • 6.30 – 9.30 pm

May is the month of bluebells, wild garlic and wood anemone, frolicking lambs and calves taking their first steps outdoors; a time when everything around us is bursting into life. Join us to celebrate spring on an early evening stroll through the stunning ancient woodlands and fields of Durslade Farm, the beautiful location of Hauser & Wirth Somerset. The walk will be led by Ben Carter, Director of Wild Resources, and Paul Dovey, Durslade Farm & Estate Manager as they share their insights and knowledge of the landscape and native wildlife. The conversation will continue over a seasonal supper back at Roth Bar & Grill. Open Source Salon is an intimate and unique evening of discussion and dining for like-minded creatives and enthusiasts. Every salon invites special guest speakers to share their knowledge and experience on one of the key themes at the heart of Hauser & Wirth Somerset – art, architecture, landscape and food. Hear stimulating talks, exchange new ideas and enjoy locally sourced fare. Previous participants include Mary McCartney, Michael Eavis and Hauser & Wirth founders, Manuela and Iwan Wirth. Open Source Salon is a collaboration between Hauser & Wirth Somerset and Roth Bar & Grill where, every Thursday night, Roth Bar & Grill will cook over fire as part of From the Fire Feasts running from May to September. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing, as this event will take place outdoors. 6.30 pm – Walk leaves from Hauser & Wirth Somerset 7.30 pm – Return to Roth Bar & Grill for dinner and discussion Menu Starter – Hedgerow and woodland salad Main – Roe deer, wild garlic pesto and home fries Dietary requirements will be accommodated; please advise when booking.
