Somerset Winter Workshop: Paper Cutting Workshop

  • Fri 6 February 2015
  • 10 am – 4 pm

During this workshop you will learn how to make a paper cut based on the Polish Wycinanki tradition. Some of the symbols date back to the 14th century but we will learn how to incorporate the old with the new and juxtapose images in the form of silhouettes. We will use scalpel knives and scissors to cut half an image from folded paper and explore the pleasure and surprise of symmetry. This one day course is led by Jackie Brooks who has worked for 25 years as a theatre designer and now enjoys the solitude of cutting alone and creating stories that are flat. She is the curator of Bruton Museum and has recently worked as an assistant to Guillermo Kuitca in the Durslade farmhouse. This event has now sold out.
