Somerset Spring Workshop: Pinhole Cameras – Shedding Light on the Obscure

  • Fri 15 May 2015
  • 10 am – 4 pm

Come along, make and use your own pinhole camera to create black and white negatives using traditional photographic chemistry in a darkroom. The best of these will then be inverted into positive images using digital technology. Several other cameras will be demonstrated, all of which can be made at home as well as showing digital DSLR pinhole. At the end of the day you will transform your camera to be able to take a 6-month duration exposure of the sun moving across the sky. We will also be exploring a variety of camera obscuras, which will be brought along on the day. All practical sessions will be accompanied by PowerPoint presentations on the Science, history and contemporary approaches to this 2500 year old technique. This workshop will be delivered by pinhole photographer Justin Quinnell. All materials provided. No experience necessary. Tickets £90 to include refreshments and lunch from the Roth Bar & Grill
