Hauser & Wirth Somerset is delighted to be part of WhereWestBegins, a community interest company that has developed a series of film screenings and events taking place across Somerset, with 50% of the programme aimed at children and young people. Bugsy Malone, is the fantastic Alan Parker musical gangster film entirely acted by children, including a very young Jodie Foster. This special screening has been timed to coincide with ‘The Sound Of Silent: Celebrating 100 years of Music and the Movies’. Prior to the screening, Jack Price of Bruton’s Youth Cinema Foundation will be running a workshop on how to direct a musical film. Participants will be filming members of the Castaways Theatre Group from Yeovil, who will be performing scenes and musical numbers from Bugsy Malone, in advance of their own production of the musical in July. The workshop will touch upon all aspects of how to create a successful musical film. The workshop is suitable for children aged 8 – 14 and places are limited to 15 participants, so please book early to avoid disappointment. 2 – 3.30 pm: workshop 3.30 – 5 pm: film To book or find out more, visit wherewestbegins.org.uk/event/bugsy-malone-hauser-wirth-somerset-may-14-castaways-theatre-group-youth-cinema-foundation
