Education Lab Returns to Somerset ‘Turning the Inside Outside: Sustainable Actions in the Art World’

Following a successful first year of collaboration in 2022, raising £325,000 with the ‘Like There Is Hope’ exhibition and auction, the gallery has raised over £430,000 in the second year of collaboration with the ‘Holding Space’ exhibition and auction, in partnership with Hospital Rooms and Bonhams, to support three ambitious new projects in NHS mental health hospitals across the UK.

Celebrating The Big Draw

Throughout October, Hauser & Wirth held events for The Big Draw Festival 2022 across 8 of our locations around the world. Chillida Leku, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Menorca, Monaco, Somerset and Zurich all offered free creative activities for families, schools and communities that engaged with drawing and responded to the collective theme ‘Come Back to Colour.’ The theme invited participants to rediscover the vitality and vibrancy in everyone’s lives after what has been a challenging few years.

‘Art for Better’ Auction in Support of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency

Announcing ‘Art for Better,’ an online auction with important works donated by gallery artists to raise funds for the humanitarian aid programs of UNHCR. Bidding will open 6 December and run through 13 December, with 100 percent of proceeds going to support life-saving assistance to victims of global refugee crises that have displaced millions.

Education Lab Returns to Menorca

Following an open call to Spanish universities, this year’s Education Lab at Hauser & Wirth Menorca has been created as part of a post-graduate student residency. The participants have worked with the gallery community and local entities to conceptualize a learning space and program that run alongside Rashid Johnson’s exhibition ‘Sodade.’

In-Person & Online: Presenting Hunter College’s MFA & MA Exhibitions

Beginning 14 May, the gallery will present ‘We Were Already Gone’, an exhibition at our West 22nd Street location in the Chelsea Arts District, organized in collaboration with Hunter College. Curated by graduate students in Hunter’s Department of Art & Art History, this exhibition will showcase the work of artists currently enrolled in the school’s MFA Program in Studio Art.

Rashid Johnson made his name as the youngest participant in ‘Freestyle,’ a 2001 show at the Studio Museum in Harlem that put some of today’s best-known African-American artists, like Trenton Doyle Hancock and Julie Mehretu, on the map.
