‘It’s a show split between photographic works in light boxes and paintings.’

During the final planning stages for Rodney Graham’s exhibition at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead, UK, a visit with the Canadian artist whose genre defying avant-garde experimentalism has confounded and thrilled audiences in museums and galleries all over the world.

Though best known as an artist for his films, photographs and installations, music has been a major part of Rodney Graham’s career: from performing with the band ‘UJ3RK5’ in Vancouver in the late 1970s, through composing soundtracks for slide and film works to, most recently, recordings and performances as a singer-songwriter.
