Enjoy live bands and DJ sets, craft cocktails from the Spare Room Hollywood, savory Russian hand-pies from the Airstream kitchen of Pirozhki LA, and late shopping hours at D.A.P.‘s on-site bookstore ARTBOOK @ Hauser & Wirth. *Thursday 28 July: The Sunland Dancers with Tara Jane ONeil Performance at 7 pm* The Sunland Dancers came together in 2013 and are based in Los Angeles at Pieter Performance Space. Led by Jmy James Kidd and with Elroy Cardenas-Weir, Perin Hailey McNelis, Jil Stein, Lisa Wahlander and Alexa Weir, their select works include ‘Welcome’ (2013) commissioned by Machine Project, ‘Friend,’ and ‘Runaway Feeling’ (2014) for the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles CA, ‘Gateway’ (2015) at the New Museum and ‘Magical Diagonal’ (currently in process). Tara Jane ONeil is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and visual artist. She creates melodic and experimental music under her own name and in collaboration with artist across many forms. TJO has composed and performed music and sound for films, theater and dance performances, and written large and small ensemble experimental architectures. As a solo artist she has released seven albums internationally. In addition to rock clubs, galleries and DIY spaces all around north America, Europe, and Japan, she has performed at All Tomorrow’s Parties, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, France, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York NY, Time-Based Art Festival (TBA), Portland OR, High Desert Test Sites, Joshua Tree CA and others. ‘Magical Diagonal’ uses both improvisational and set phrase work in this new hour-long piece with an original score composed by Tara Jane ONeil. It explores the pivotal moment and courage a dancer feels to step into and out of a solo performance with support from other dancers and the audience. It cultivates the judgement and instinct a person needs when deciding to and then walking a pathway alone. ‘Magical Diagonal’ will embody multiple solos as well as duets, trios, quartets and group dancing. Costumes designed and constructed by Jmy James Kidd. This event is free, but reservation is required. Click here to reserve a place.
