Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles, a new center for contemporary art in LA’s Downtown Arts District, presents After 5, a series of free live music performances on Thursday nights, 5 – 9 pm. Take advantage of extended Thursday opening hours at the gallery to explore the exhibition, ‘Revolution in the Making: Abstract Sculpture by Women, 1947 – 2016,’ then meet friends in the central courtyard for an evening outdoors. Enjoy live bands and DJ sets, craft cocktails from the Spare Room Hollywood, savory Russian hand-pies from the Airstream kitchen of Pirozhki LA, and late shopping hours at D.A.P.‘s on-site bookstore ARTBOOK @ Hauser & Wirth. Thursday 21 July: Jason Golday Composer Jason Golday writes, performs, and records music for television and film. He is a featured regular guest artist at California Institute of the Arts, Valencia CA, composing and performing live scores for silent films. Using a guitar and various external effect devices, his performances strive to incorporate the unique aural periphery a given locale, and thus mirror its specific qualities. He has performed original works in Los Angeles CA at the Hammer Museum, Machine Project, and Redcat Theatre. Golday holds an MFA in Jazz Guitar Performance from California Institute of the Arts, Valencia CA. He plays in the groups Mad Gregs, Minutiaens, The Chris Cohen Band, and Forget Me Nauts, among others. In addition to teaching private classical and jazz guitar at the San Marino Music Center and the South Pasadena Conservatory of Music, he composes for film, including the recent documentary ‘The Process is the Thing,’ a film about Matthew Barney, Marnie Weber and other contemporary artists.
