Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles, a new center for contemporary art in LA’s Downtown Arts District, presents After 5, a series of free live music performances on Thursday nights, 5 – 9 pm. Take advantage of extended Thursday opening hours at the gallery to explore the exhibition, ‘Revolution in the Making: Abstract Sculpture by Women, 1947 – 2016,’ then meet friends in the central courtyard for an evening outdoors. Enjoy live bands and DJ sets, craft cocktails from the Spare Room Hollywood, savory Russian hand-pies from the Airstream kitchen of Pirozhki LA, and late shopping hours at D.A.P.‘s on-site bookstore ARTBOOK @ Hauser & Wirth. Thursday 30 June: Madame Gandhi Madame Gandhi is an electronic drums and vocals project from LA. Featuring lead musician Kiran Gandhi (former drummer for MIA, Thievery Corporation) and Alexia Riner (sound designer from Berklee College of Music), the duo creates electro-feminist anthems that leave their audiences dancing and cheering. The band has a following of over 30,000 fans online, and Kiran is known by millions internationally for sparking a viral movement about menstrual equity when she ran the London Marathon last year free-bleeding on her period.
