Hauser & Wirth Somerset opened in July 2014 and is a pioneering world-class gallery and multipurpose art centre, which acts as a destination for experiencing art, architecture and the remarkable Somerset landscape through new and innovative exhibitions of contemporary art.
We are looking for an Assistant to Senior Director in Somerset with experience in supporting a senior member of staff in running a department, programming activities and bringing a team together.
This position requires immaculate attention to detail, communication, organisation, discretion and someone who is responsive and comfortable being the voice of their leader, when needed, internally and externally.
It is essential that the role has an appreciation for the arts and desirable to have previous experience in the world of art.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to articulate views clearly and confidently.
Trusted to act as the ‘eyes and ears’ for the Senior Director, providing clear, timely reporting and updates.
Confident when needed to be client facing, lead meetings, and instruct wider team.
Exemplary IT skills, including Microsoft 365 and Adobe InDesign.
Main Tasks include but are not limited to:
Support the Senior Director in the day-to-day running of the Somerset site, ensuring a strong local presence and high standards of programme delivery.
Provide comprehensive administrative support, including diary management, planning, research, analysis, briefings, reporting, meetings, travel arrangements, itineraries, statistics, team communications and following up on actions.
Support relationship management with artists, institutions, local venues, restaurants, hotels, and B&Bs.
Plan and coordinate visits for clients, guests, and artists, including travel, accommodation, and itineraries.
Handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion and integrity.
Plan and deliver PVs, public openings, dinners and events, including guest list management (Zkipster), hospitality coordination, third-party correspondence, and event administration.
Liaise with on-site hospitality teams (Da Costa, Roth Bar, Farm Shop) to coordinate bookings, events, and visits, ensuring a consistent and high‑quality visitor experience.
Support the smooth operation of front and back‑of‑house, acting as a key information point and handling general enquiries.
Manage gallery property bookings, carry out monthly checks, and liaise with Front Desk and Facilities teams regarding maintenance and repairs.
Coordinate staff events and key moments, including socials, inductions, leavers.
Provide ad hoc support to the Presidents, CEO, and senior leadership team as required.
Act as an ambassador of HW at all times, in line with the organisation’s values.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.
