Sir Frank Bowling OBE RA celebrates his 90th birthday with a presentation at Hauser & Wirth London of two monumental works, dating from 1973 and 2023 – 2024, on view through Saturday 16 March 2024.

Art in the Street

11 October 2023

Art in the Street is a new program of temporary commissions that takes art to unexpected locations through takeovers of building hoardings and advertising billboards. Devised by our Global Creative Director, Neil Wenman, the project sees works placed in sites outside of gallery spaces and museums, allowing international audiences to encounter the works at new scales and within the urban fabric of the city.

Frank Bowling’s First Digital Artwork

The Cultural Institute of Radical Contemporary Arts (CIRCA) is presenting ‘Arrival’—the first digital artwork by modern master Sir Frank Bowling. Celebrating the 70-year anniversary of his arrival in London from British Guiana (now Guyana) in May 1953, the exhibition runs from 4 May until 30 June and coincides with The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and the 75th anniversary of Windrush.

‘Art for Better’ Auction in Support of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency

Announcing ‘Art for Better,’ an online auction with important works donated by gallery artists to raise funds for the humanitarian aid programs of UNHCR. Bidding will open 6 December and run through 13 December, with 100 percent of proceeds going to support life-saving assistance to victims of global refugee crises that have displaced millions.

Royal College of Art Announces New Sir Frank Bowling Scholarship

The Royal College of Art (RCA) in London has announced the launch of its new Sir Frank Bowling Scholarship, supporting 24 UK MA and MRes students and 1 PhD student every year from Black African and Caribbean diaspora heritage, or mixed Black African and Caribbean diaspora heritage, across MA, MRes and PhD study.

‘Up Close and Personal’: Hauser & Wirth at Art Basel Miami 2020

Our presentation at Art Basel Miami Beach 2020 will focus on masterworks by leading US based artists from across the program, in a presentation that bridges the experiential gap between the virtual and the physical that has come to define art encounters in the year 2020. Additionally, our new augmented reality tool will allow visitors to the online booth to ‘place’ artworks in their own homes.
