Our Los Angeles operations team has been working on solutions to improve our gallery’s climate control systems, resulting in both energy savings and cost reductions. The team’s findings were presented at the International Climate Control Conference in December 2024, showcasing the achievements of our Downtown Los Angeles case study.
Using a cost-conscious approach and in a spirit of curiosity the team experimented with:
HVAC system shutdowns overnight
Leaning into seasonal changes outside to effectively control the gallery temperature inside
Moving away from setting blanket temperature ranges, while assessing potential risks
Expanded ranges of temperature and humidity set points
Adopting these shifts has resulted in energy and cost savings which we continue to track. This work is part of our participation in the Ki Culture Getting Climate Control Under Control program, which equips cultural institutions with tools and strategies to enhance sustainability practices.
