Cliodhna Murphy during Sustainability in Action 2025 in New York, hosted by Emerson Collective and Hauser & Wirth
13 October 2025
Cliodhna Murphy, Hauser & Wirth’s Global Head of Environmental Sustainability, has been appointed as Trustee of Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC). Cliodhna joins GCC at a pivotal juncture in the organization’s journey to decarbonize the visual arts sector. As GCC mark’s its 5th anniversary—midway between its 2020 founding and the 2030 target to reduce sector-wide CO₂ emissions by 50%—Cliodhna’s participation as Trustee arrives at a moment of reflection, renewal and ambition for the organization. Trustees are selected based on their enthusiasm for, and alignment with, GCC’s goals and their ability to further them.
‘We’re delighted to welcome our longtime collaborator, Cliodhna, on board as our newest Trustee,’ Heath Lowndes, GCC Co-Founder and Director, says. ‘Cliodhna brings over 20 years’ of experience and joins fellow Trustees and our Chair Frances Morris as a thought leader in environmental sustainability whose proven commitment to finding climate solutions is matched by her enthusiasm for sharing innovative new approaches and vital learnings with artists and the wider field. We look forward to the contributions she will make and the positive impact her advocacy will have on our sector.’

‘I’m thrilled to join my fellow Trustees to amplify the work of the small but mighty Gallery Climate Coalition team led by Heath,’ says Cliodhna. ‘I look forward to finding new and creative ways to demonstrate that the solutions for a thriving, healthy planet already exist. What matters is how and when we put them into practice. One gallery or artist's studio alone cannot shift the landscape, but through collective action we can increase our impact, build a movement and contribute meaningfully to climate resilience in the art world and beyond.’
