Arthaus working with artists John Wood and Paul Harrison, 2018

Film by artists John Wood and Paul Harrison in collaboration with Arthaus to screen at Hauser & Wirth Somerset

21 January 2018

A film produced by artists John Wood and Paul Harrison in collaboration with Hauser & Wirth Somerset's youth group, Arthaus, will be shown at the gallery throughout the Summer.

Artists Wood and Harrison started working together in 1991. Collaboratively they make single-channel videos, multi-screen video installations, drawings, prints and sculpture that elegantly fuse aesthetic research with existential comedy. The artists’ spare, to-the-point works often explore how human beings interact with everyday objects. Wood and Harrison’s work regularly feature the actions of their own bodies, and a wide variety of static and moving props. Taking their methods as a starting point, the commissioned project ‘This Is The Plan’ invited young people to be involved in a three-day workshop and two days filming with Wood and Harrison. This was a unique opportunity for members of Arthaus to work alongside the artists, learn about their creative processes, and to embrace collaborative practice and to produce an original short film. The film ‘This Rectangle’ will be screened from 26 May – 9 September 2018 at Hauser & Wirth Somerset.
