Please join us for a talk with Jackie Winsor, who is featured in our current exhibition, ‘Revolution in the Making: Abstract Sculpture by Women, 1947 – 2016.’ Long associated with process art, Jackie Winsor emerged as a significant sculptor in the late 1960s. Embracing simple geometric forms, her work responds to and transforms the formal language of minimalist sculpture. She employs unrefined, natural materials and a meticulous handmade approach to create highly tactile forms charged with a visceral energy. Jackie Winsor holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art, Boston MA (1965), and an MFA from Rutgers University, New Brunswick NJ (1967). She has participated in numerous group exhibitions and has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York NY (1979, traveled); the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee WI (1991, traveled); PS1 Contemporary Art Center, Long Island City NY (1997); and, most recently, the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield CT (2014). This event is free, but reservation is required. Click here to reserve a place.
