Drawing Workshop with Luis Laplace

  • Sat 21 March 2015
  • 11 am – 1 pm

This workshop will focus on drawing and understanding how your brain works in relation to drawing – learning to draw means learning to see. It is based on theories and practice of drawing on the right side of the brain. In a relaxed and informal setting you will explore the environment of Hauser & Wirth Somerset, under the topic of ‘seeing through drawing’. One of the most engaging ways of investigating what you see is through drawing; it can allow you to communicate spaces, details, atmospheres and feelings. However many of us feel intimated by drawing, believing good drawing is the skill of a talented few. The aim is to develop individual techniques, improve skills and experiment with mixed media to produce observed and experimental drawings. As part of your practice of drawing, you will undertake a range of exercises producing sketches, and performance drawings through observations and as demonstrations. Aims of the workshop: • To take a more practical visit to Hauser & Wirth Somerset. • Learn to sketch, draw, record, document, and experiment. • Develop and distinguish an individual approach and use drawing to express a visual language. The workshop is aimed at students and adults who wish to develop their drawing skills. This event is now fully booked.
