Artist Marcus Coates, who has several works in ‘The Land We Live In – The Land We Left Behind’ joins us for the exhibition’s opening weekend to take on the role of the Apple Service Provider in a series of unique one-on-one performances. The performances will take place within Coates’ work the ‘Anchorhold’, an ingenious wooden structure that holds two people, designed by the architectural practice Sutherland Hussey Harris. ‘Anchorhold’ takes its name from tenth century hermitages in which anchorites would withdraw from society in order to deliberate on God. For this exhibition, Coates has repurposed the structure as an apple store. As the Apple Service Provider, Coates will serve individuals who require solutions, using his knowledge of apples as a resource for understanding and insight. Any question can be addressed; the apples provide the answers, whether it is personal or global – as long as a solution is required. Conversations will be audio recorded and extracts replayed within the ‘Anchorhold’ throughout the exhibition. *This is a free event, but booking is required – one person per 45 minute slot. Participants must be over 18 years of age and should come with a specific question. Please note by booking you are agreeing that we can record your session and use excerpts of the recording within the exhibition. The following times are available on both days: 10 – 10.45 am 11 – 11.45 am 12 – 12.45 pm 2 – 2.45 pm 3 – 3.45 pm Sat 20 Jan 2018 Sun 21 Jan 2018
