Utopia / Dystopia: Love is a Near Death Experience

  • Tue 12 June 2018

Please join us for the next installment of Utopia / Dystopia, an ongoing series of talks, screenings and discussions, co-presented with Morbid Anatomy. For this event, filmmaker Ronni Thomas will discuss the strange story of Carl Tanzler, also known as Count Carl von Cosel, who in 1940 was found in Key West, Florida living with the corpse of a former patient. Von Cosel had become obsessed with curing his patient's fatal illness, but upon her death he adjusted his thinking from curing an illness, to curing death. The bizarre and unexpectedly uplifting story unfolds like a gothic romance, filled with mad science, mysticism, and the supernatural. Ronni Thomas is a filmmaker and artist from Brooklyn. His short-subject films, most of which profile characters who inhabit macabre and esoteric spaces, have received critical acclaim worldwide. The event will take place from 7 – 10 pm
