Writing and Movement Workshop: ‘Persona’ by Ana Haro and Silvia Mar

Writer Ana Haro returns to Illa del Rei on Saturday 13 September and Saturday 11 October, joined by Silvia Mar, for a series of workshops combining writing and movement.

Inspired by the work of Cindy Sherman, this workshop invites participants to explore exercises in composition, performance, and writing, where the body takes on the form of text.

Through a series of guided activities, Haro and Mar will lead a hands-on exploration of the relationship between body, space, and the artworks on view—encouraging participants to engage with the piece not just as viewers, but as active components. The frame expands to embody an experience that includes the environment, artwork, movement, and written response.

The workshop will be held in Spanish, with available resources in Catalan, English, French, and Italian.

Although this event is free to attend, please book your tickets in advance here.

About Silvia Mar
Silvia Mar is a multidisciplinary artist and explorer of new ways of living. She currently resides in Menorca, where she’s found a lifestyle more in tune with her values: connection to nature, simplicity, and conscious creativity. With a background in International Relations, she worked across Europe and the United States before choosing to leave that path and begin a more personal and essential journey. Her artistic work centers on dance and somatic movement, and she also has a passion for writing and creative collaboration. Her practice explores the connection between body, space, and matter, and stems from a deep desire to transform physical and sensory relationships — encouraging a more intuitive, respectful, and life-connected way of seeing the world.

About Ana Haro
Ana Haro is a writer and journalist from Madrid, who has lived in Menorca since 2010, where she founded her writing school, ‘El Taller de Ana Haro’, where she organizes workshops, meetings, and readings, and where texts are shared, evoking the ancient custom of gathering in a circle to tell and listen to stories. She has published seven anthologies of short stories as part of this community: ‘Peccata minuta’ (2016), ‘Mare nostrum’ (2017), ‘Tempus Fugit’ (2018), ‘Alter ego’ (2020), ‘In extremis (2021), ‘La casa azul’ (2023), and ‘Patios’ (2024). For Ana, literature and the practice of writing are tools for self-understanding—ways to find one’s voice and imagery, to inhabit an island, both literal and metaphorical, to explore the depths of the body, and to clear away the tangled branches of our verbal jungle.

Photographs will be taken at this event for use on the Hauser & Wirth website, social media and in other marketing materials.
