Join us for a screening of 'Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf' with an introduction by writer and gardening editor, Caroline Donald. The immersive documentary takes viewers on a vibrant journey through the work, mind and creative processes of landscape designer and renowned plantsman, Piet Oudolf. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Thomas Piper, the film follows Oudolf through the concept and installation of Oudolf Field, the 1.5 acre meadow garden at Hauser & Wirth Somerset, exploring his colourful painterly sketches and radical approach to naturalistic planting for which he has become known. Piper also visits Oudolf’s high profile commission for The High Line in New York City, signature works in Chicago and Oudolf’s own gardens in Hummelo in the Netherlands. Caroline Donald is an author, writer and has been gardening editor of the Sunday Times since 2000, where she has regularly worked with, and interviewed, Piet Oudolf. Her book, The Generous Gardener: Private Paradises Shared (2018) is a collection of interviews, published by Pimpernel Press. This event will take place at the Hauser & Wirth Recital Hall at King’s Bruton School. Parking is available at Blue 18 or Blue 21 on this map. The Hauser & Wirth Recital Hall is fully accessible and has disabled toilets and a lift to the balcony level. Tickets are £5 and includes a drink on arrival.
