Piet Oudolf, the internationally renowned landscape designer from the Netherlands, has designed the landscaping scheme for the entire site, including Oudolf Field—a large perennial meadow situated behind the gallery.
Carefully shaped and planted, the garden echoes the tradition of classical gardens, but the variety of species and combination of plants creates a looseness, softening the formality of its appearance. Known for his use of perennials, Oudolf Field has visual interest year round.
At the top of Oudolf Field sits the Radić Pavilion. Designed by Chilean architect Smiljan Radić, it was installed at Hauser & Wirth Somerset in 2015, following its unveiling the previous year as the Serpentine Gallery 2014 Pavilion.
Entry to the garden is always free, although we invite visitors to donate to our charity partner, Good Company Bruton.

The Hauser & Wirth Somerset bookshop offers a wide selection of Hauser & Wirth Publishers titles from the gallery’s 30-year history of exhibitions, projects and research, as well as books relating to our current exhibition and Oudolf Field. In addition, the shop features a selection of prints, games and activity sets.

Roth Bar is site-specific artwork and fully-functioning bar at Hauser & Wirth Somerset.
Created by artist Oddur Roth, grandson of the late German-born Swiss artist Dieter Roth, the bar is a dynamic and changing installation, composed of salvaged materials and objects from reclamation yards in the surrounding area, inspired by the history of Durslade Farm.
Roth Bar is a vibrant, informal celebration of Somerset and the West Country. Enjoy signature and classic cocktails, wine from our vineyard and cider from our orchards, alongside reimagined Roth Bar favourites, snacks and sharing boards, pastries and sweets.
Roth Bar is open Wednesday – Sunday from 9 am.

Da Costa is inspired by Iwan Wirth’s maternal grandfather, who originated from the small mountainous village of Rivamonte Agordino in the Veneto region of Northern Italy. He emigrated to Switzerland in the early 20th Century, where he opened a small restaurant, much loved for its simple, honest fare.
A century later, and 800 miles from that first restaurant, Da Costa continues this culinary adventure, using freshly grown, seasonal ingredients from Durslade Farm and the surrounding area to create dishes blending the best of both worlds: quintessential Englishness with Italian flair.
Da Costa is open Wednesday – Sunday from 12 pm.

Farm Shop celebrates the best growers, farmers and makers that Somerset has to offer, as well as the produce from Durslade Farm.
It is passionate about promoting and sharing local talent, supporting small projects and working with established producers to create products that you can only find in Farm Shop.
Farm Shop Somerset is located on the edge of a working farm where, alongside livestock, there is a vineyard, orchard, walled garden and orchard. With an in-house forager, butcher and deli counter, Farm Shop showcases truly seasonal produce.
Farm Shop is open Monday – Sunday from 9 am.

Hauser & Wirth is committed to inclusive learning programs that instigate a dialogue between art, artists and diverse audiences with a focus on first-hand experience. Ongoing global projects are centred on three core pillars: to engage with communities; enrich academic program; and foster better access to art careers through a series of meaningful partnerships.
Our learning program in Somerset fosters dialogue, creativity and discovery among the widest possible range of audiences, through activities and events catalyzed by the work of the gallery’s artists.
Hauser & Wirth Somerset’s strong relationships with local schools, universities and institutions have led to partnership projects such as: Architectural Summer School with Drawing Matter and Kingston University, MA residency with Dartington Arts School and Education Labs with Arts University Bournemouth and Bath Spa University.
Through our community events program, we work closely with regional and national organizations including Bristol Old Vic Theatre and The Big Draw.

Since 2013, Hauser & Wirth Somerset has supported an immersive artist-in-residence program, facilitating over 50 residencies for Hauser & Wirth artists and opportunities beyond the gallery’s roster.
The residencies have no prescribed outcome but instead provide artists, curators and students with time and space for reflection, research and production. All participants are encouraged to contribute to a continuous creative hub, including collaborative community events and learning workshops.
Previous artists-in-residence include: Rita Ackermann, Martin Creed, Allison Katz, Bharti Kher, Pipilotti Rist, Henry Taylor, Thomas J Price, Rashid Johnson, Christina Quarles and Firelei Báez.

Hauser & Wirth Somerset welcomes Angel Otero as our artist-in-residence this spring ahead of his UK debut exhibition, ‘Angel Otero. Agua Salada,’ opening on 2 May 2026. Moving his studio practice from New York and Puerto Rico temporarily to Somerset, the residency offers a unique opportunity to observe Otero’s ongoing exploration of memory, place and meaning in the context of a new environment. The exhibition will feature a deeply personal body of work, completed during the residency.

Arthaus is an inclusive community of young people aged 15 – 19 years who share a passion for art. It is an opportunity to meet regularly at the gallery to connect with like-minded individuals, socialize, collaborate and embrace new experiences. It is a space for alternative voices, self-expression, inspiration and creative freedom.
Arthaus meet on the first Wednesday of every month from 4.30 – 6 pm at Hauser & Wirth Somerset.
If you would like to become a member of Arthaus, please contact our Learning team at hwsomersetlearning@hauserwirth.com. Membership is free.
Follow the Arthaus Instagram for further updates.
Temporarily relocating his studio from New York and Puerto Rico to Somerset, we sat down with Angel Otero ahead of his debut UK exhibition at the gallery this spring. Known for his explorative treatment of paint as both surface and subject, the artist continues his exploration of memory, place and meaning within a new context, finding new inspirations and celebrating familiar practices.
‘Angel Otero. Agua Salada’ opens in Somerset on Saturday 2 May.

The ‘Education Lab: Echoes’ accompanies our ‘Angel Otero. Agua Salada’ and explores how memory shapes who we are. Developed in collaboration with Museum To You, a Somerset-based charity supporting older adults in care settings and our youth collective, Arthaus, the Education Lab centers on intergenerational exchange and collective creativity.
Community stories, short films and a collaborative memory wall will develop over the course of the exhibition, alongside a soundscape co-produced with local care home residents, inspired by Angel Otero’s reflections on people, place and personal fragments.

Since 2014, the gallery has partnered with 14 charitable organizations, institutions and local businesses across the South West of England.
Each year, a new local charity is supported through visitor entrance donations and community events. From 2024 – 2026, we are supporting Good Company Bruton, a not-for-profit set up by and for the local community. Run entirely by volunteers, Good Company Bruton supports community projects that bring people together, including those that help Bruton’s most disadvantaged groups, to foster a greater sense of belonging.

Hauser & Wirth Somerset is a world-class gallery and multipurpose arts center, providing a unique destination to experience art, architecture and the rural landscape of Somerset.

Our on-site restaurant and bar, Da Costa and Roth Bar, serve seasonal food and drink, and Farm Shop supports farmers, growers and makers by stocking local produce from our community.

Centered around a core belief in conservation, learning and sustainability, Hauser & Wirth Somerset offers a wide variety of events including talks, tours, workshops and screenings, as well as an extensive learning program for local schools, universities, young people and families.

Prior to the gallery opening in 2014, the Grade II listed farm buildings remained derelict for several decades, until they were sensitively restored and renovated by Paris-based architectural firm Laplace and local architects benjamin+beauchamp.
Hauser & Wirth Somerset has been awarded both a RIBA South West Award 2015 and Civic Trust 2015 Award. In 2014, Durslade Farmhouse also won the William Stansell Historic Buildings Award.

Stockwell House is undergoing restoration to preserve the historic listed building. As a result, the gallery will remain closed until renovations are complete in summer 2026.
