About Emma Kunz
Emma Kunz (1892 – 1963) was a Swiss artist, researcher and healer whose visionary drawings are renowned for their intricate geometric structures and exploration of the relationship between nature, energy fields and human consciousness.
Emma Kunz considered herself first and foremost a researcher, using her drawings as tools for diagnosis, reflection and investigation alongside her healing practice. Her artworks emerged from a deeply holistic approach, using graph paper, colored pencil and pendulum-guided methods to create works that merged intuitive inquiry and visual experimentation. Although she did not identify as an artist during her lifetime, Kunz is now recognized as a pioneering figure whose interdisciplinary practice anticipated many contemporary concerns around spirituality and ecology.
Today, her legacy is preserved by the Emma Kunz Foundation and the Emma Kunz Center in Würenlos, Switzerland. The Foundation houses the largest collection of her work and supports ongoing research into her practice, while the Emma Kunz Center offers a space to engage with her work, which is presented in its museum. In recent years, her work has been presented in major institutional exhibitions including ‘Emma Kunz. Visionary Drawings’ at Serpentine Galleries, London, UK (2019), the first major UK solo exhibition of her work, and ‘Emma Kunz Cosmos’ at Aargauer Kunsthaus, Aarau, Switzerland (2021), which explored her enduring relevance and impact on contemporary artistic practice and research.
The exhibition is on view from Saturday 7 November 2026 – Sunday 4 April 2027.
