Situated on Bruton High Street, Stockwell House occupies two rooms of a Georgian townhouse. The gallery is a destination for contemporary making and the crafted object, showcasing work from the best emerging and established makers.
Stockwell House is undergoing restoration to preserve the historic listed building. As a result, the gallery will remain closed until renovations are complete in summer 2026.

From 2018 – 2025, the gallery presented work by over 80 artist-makers from around the world, providing valuable insights into the working processes and rich narratives of their practices. There was an emphasis on pieces commissioned specifically for Make Hauser & Wirth Somerset, some of which are created in response to the local area and environment, employing locally sourced materials. All works exhibited are for sale. To coincide with the diverse and collaborative exhibition program, the gallery hosted residencies, talks, workshops and community events.
Hauser & Wirth Somerset is a pioneering world-class gallery and multipurpose arts center. Occupying a former farmstead in Bruton, Hauser & Wirth Somerset is home to a vibrant program of art exhibitions, events, learning activities and artists’ residencies, which connect with the local community and landscape.
Visit the gallery from Thursday – Sunday, 12 – 4 pm, and the garden from Wednesday – Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm.
