10 Year Party: Celebrate a Decade Downtown

In 2016, when we opened 10 years ago in Downtown Los Angeles, we marked the occasion with Isa Genzken’s towering Rose III in the courtyard. Now, 10 years, over 90 exhibitions, and 2 million visitors later, the exhibition ‘Destiny Is a Rose: The Eileen Harris Norton Collection’ centers California collector Harris Norton, who might be seen as a constant gardener herself: she has built something both beautiful and enduring.

Join us on Saturday 30 May from 11 am – 4 pm to celebrate what we have grown together with a party of offerings, a testament to our garden being fully in bloom:

Full Program:
11 am: Screening & Talk: ‘The Generative Universe’ with Keith Tyson & Ingrid Schaffner
11.30 am – 12.30 pm & 2.30 – 3.30 pm: Fresh Takes: Exhibition tours of ‘Destiny Is a Rose’ led by next-generation creatives of Art Division
11 am – 2 pm: Family Workshop: ‘Rose Salad’ led by Garden School Foundation
12 – 2 pm: Workshop: Create a Flower Bouquet
12.30 pm: Screening: ‘I Build the Tower’ on Sam Rodia and the Watts Towers, connected to ‘Destiny Is a Rose’
1 – 3 pm: Complimentary Salt & Straw ice cream*
1.15 – 1.30 pm: Performance by Inner-City Arts Cumbia Band
2 – 4 pm: Live Salsa Band, Sangre Nueva, with Salsa lessons

Complimentary biscuits and lemonade by Manuela* and rosé for $10

Exhibition catalogues for ‘Revolution in the Making’ and ‘Schwitters Miro Arp’ for $10*
