Hauser & Wirth Somerset opened in July 2014 and is a pioneering world-class gallery and multi-purpose arts centre, which acts as a destination for experiencing art, architecture, and the remarkable Somerset landscape through new and innovative exhibitions of contemporary art.

Based in Somerset, this full-time position will provide support to the development and delivery of learning initiatives in the UK. Working directly with the Associate Director of Learning UK, the Learning Manager will coordinate all learning tours, activities and workshops for schools, student, and community groups, and will oversee our community partnerships.

Reports to: Associate Director Learning, UK

The role will include, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Manage booking for all learning group visits

  • Deploy and manage freelance staff where required to support the programme

  • Champion access for a broad spectrum of learner groups to HWSO

  • Work alongside learning colleagues in other global locations to ensure a holistic approach and consistency with the programme.

  • Collaboration with Event Teams, Artist Teams, Marketing Teams, and Gallery Assistants to ensure the Learning Program is embedded into wider gallery activities

  • Liaising with event teams and Artfarm to co-ordinate learning events within the site programme

  • Maintaining, managing, and ordering all materials and resources required for the delivery of the learning programme

  • Ensure all learning events are well documented and reported on; keeping key stakeholders informed throughout the process

  • Ensure learning requirements e.g. risk assessments, public liability and policies are maintained and adhered to

Partnerships:

  • Manage philanthropic and charity projects related to the local and wider community

  • Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Learning UK, manage the learning budget: always ensuring best value and global parity

  • Develop the network and contacts of local partners in Somerset

  • Produce sound qualitative and quantitative documentation of the profile of the partnership programmes in the UK

Administration:

  • Provide administration for the research and development of the learning and partnership programme at Hauser & Wirth Somerset

  • Producing high quality presentations and reports to reflect the activities, outcomes and impact of the education programme, partnerships, and collaborations

  • Managing invitation mail outs and guest lists for learning and partnership events

Required knowledge, skills and qualifications:

  • Hold either a BA or MA in Fine Art, Art History or a related subject, or equivalent work experience of at least 3 years

  • At least three years' experience of administration and delivery, either in an educational or gallery setting

  • Evidence of working with children in a creative setting and understanding best practice working with minors

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Organised with an ability to prioritise

  • Computer literate—familiarity with Mac OS is desirable

  • Candidate should be meticulous with attention to detail

  • Second European language desired

  • Proactive attitude

  • Team player
