Join us for an outdoor film screening of ‘King Kong’ (1933) in celebration of the exhibition ‘Niki de Saint Phalle & Jean Tinguely. Myths & Machines’ at Hauser & Wirth Somerset.

As artists and storytellers, Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely were great lovers of film and cinema. They had an extensive collection of movies that they would continuously rewatch. They had a particular interest in classic monster movies, fascinated by the creatures, myths, fantasies and mechanical creations, echos of which exist in their work. American adventure-horror film ‘King Kong’ (1933) was a firm favorite, and influenced several of their works over the years.

The film will be shown on a large LED screen in our farmyard. Please bring your own chairs, cushions and blankets. The available outdoor space will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Dogs are welcome on leads.

Tickets cost £3 per person, with free entry to anyone under 18 years. All proceeds from the tickets sales will support our charity partner Good Company Bruton. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Roth Bar will be serving food from the fire, which can be purchased throughout the evening alongside a selection of drinks.

Schedule

  • 5.30 pm: Entry

  • 6.30 – 8.15 pm: Screening

Please note that the gallery and garden close at 5 pm. Food and drink is available in Roth Bar until 9 pm, with Da Costa taking dinner reservations until 9.30 pm.
